Chlorobutyl / Bromobutyl

Our chlorobutyl and bromobutyl linings provide excellent resistance to acids, caustic solutions, and ozone, while remaining stable under rapid temperature changes. Unaffected by cold, these elastomers withstand heat up to 200 °F for most acids. Ideal for phosphoric acid tanks, sodium hypochlorite systems, and other industrial applications, they combine durability, safety, and strong chemical performance. Bromobutyl, being slightly more reactive, allows for faster curing and improved adhesion, while chlorobutyl delivers exceptional chemical stability in demanding environments.

Polycorp 6511 is a black 50A durometer bromobutyl rubber lining. It was developed to provide superior resistance in phosphoric acids and caustic solutions in high temperature applications. It is used as cap strip for Polycorp 6512 lining. It is FDA compliant as per 21CFR177.2600.

Polycorp 2006 is a 50A durometer “Pure” black chlorobutyl rubber lining. Excellent chemical resistance at elevated temperature. Superior lining to handle strong sodium hypochlorite solution up to 15% available chlorine. Suitable for 70% hydrofluoric acid service.

Chemical cure chlorobutyl lining

Polycorp 1058 White 40A durometer chemical cure Chlorobutyl. General purpose repair stock for white chlorobutyl lining. Excellent chemical with good resistance to heat and some oxidize chemicals. For FDA application use activator C-600, for non-FDA Compliant use activator C-700 to cure the rubber. Ambient cure or Steam Assist Cure.

Blended chlorobutyl lining

Polycorp 1055 is a black 55A durometer blended chlorobutyl with soft natural rubber sticky back tie gum. It provides general purpose chemical resistance at elevated temperatures. Good resistance to some oxidizing chemicals and excellent in super phosphoric acid. It is FDA compliant as per 21CFR177.2600. Operating temperature range is from -4°F (-20°C) to 203°F (95°C).

Blended chlorobutyl lining

Polycorp 4631 is a black 55A durometer blended chlorobutyl lining. This lining is a general purpose lining providing good corrosion protection in various applications. It is also the lining of choice in the transportation industry as overlay on Polycorp 1099 in the vapor pad area of HCL tank cars to reduce the “chunking” effect in the vapor pad area caused by the movement of HCL during transport. It is FDA compliant as per 21CFR177.2600. Operating temperature range is from - 40°F (-40°C) to 160°F (71°C).
